Meet the Assistant Principal

Mrs. Wood began her career in education after graduating from the University of Utah in 2000. She started as a first-grade teacher in Salt Lake City, where she taught for two years before relocating to Arizona in 2002. In Phoenix, she continued her teaching career in first grade and later expanded her experience by teaching second and fifth grades over a four-year period.

After earning her Master’s degree in Educational Administration, Mrs. Wood transitioned into leadership as the 6th Grade Student Advisor at Kyrene Middle School in 2006. Since then, she has served in a variety of leadership roles, including Dean and Academic Behavior Specialist at both Altadena and Akimel A-al Middle Schools.

For the past four years, Mrs. Wood has proudly served as the Assistant Principal at Akimel A-al. She finds the middle school experience both rewarding and challenging, and embraces each day as an opportunity to support students, staff, and the school community.

Outside of school, Mrs. Wood enjoys trail running, camping with her family, and spending time with her two Dobermans, Rizzo and Ivy.
